Burke E. Falor

June 10, 1947 Burke E. Falor, a resident of Eureka, was a merchant ship steward during WWII. After his recent graduation from Maritime school, he was assigned to the Quinault Victory, one of the two ammunition ships that the Navy listed as "missing and presumed to be lost" after an explosion that occurred on July 17, 1944 in Port Chicago, California. He was eighteen years old and had only been assigned to the ship for three weeks before the disaster took place . His final resting place was at St. Bernard cemetery in Eureka. He was survived by his parent Mr. & Mrs. Falor and his brothers Fred and Ward Falor. |
