Tuesday, May 8, 1945 pg. 5 “Eureka Youth: Missing In Action George Milton Moore of Eureka, seaman second class in the U.S. Navy, has been reported missing in action in the service of his country, according to a telegram received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Harry Moore, 4307 Myrtle street in Cutten. The telegram came from Vice Admiral Randall Jacobs, chief of naval personnel, and gave no other details. Besides his parents, Seaman Moore is survived by seven brothers and sisters, a grandmother three aunts, an uncle and two nephews. He attended Eureka high school until October, 1943, when he left to enter the Navy at the age of 17. He won several letters while at high school. Moore was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol unit of Eureka. His last service was on landing service transport, after leaving the United States in January of this year. |
