Saturday, March 31, 1945 pg. 3 “Alderpoint Youth: Killed In Europe” ALDERPOINT, March 31- Mrs. Maud Gilman of Alderpoint has been notified that her son, Staff Sgt. Harold B. Gilman, was killed in action while serving in Europe with General Patton’s Third Army in an infantry unit. Sgt. Gilman had been in the service since November, 1942, and prior to that had worked on the Gilman ranch and as assistant warden with the Division of Fish and Game. He attended school at Zenia and the Weaverville High school. Surviving are his mother; sister and brothers, Mary A. Upham of Junction City, James J. Gilman of Ruth and Sgt. Arthur F. Gilman, a prisoner of war in Germany since September, 1944. |
