Thursday, February 15, 1945 pg. 1 “Killed In Action: Battle For Luzon” Pfc. Stephen L. Stockton- In the Army three years and a veteran of New Guinea battles, Pfc. Stephen L. Stockton, 21, of Bull Creek and a former Eureka High student, was killed in action on Luzon, Philippine Islands, on January 24. He served with the 716th Tank Battalion. The young soldier entered the Army in 1942, trained at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas, and Camp Howze, Texas, before going overseas in November, 1943. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Stockton of Bull Creek; sisters and brothers, Mrs. Alice Parks of Blue Lake, Mrs. Mae Christiansen and Mrs. Margaret Phelps of Eureka, Pfc. Charles Stockton, now in Corsica, and Seaman 1/c (Y) Edward Stockton, now serving on a ship in the South Pacific. |
