Tuesday, April 3, 1945 pg. 3 “William Tassara: Killed In Action” Technical Sergeant William F. Tassara, 24, son of C. B. Tassara, 2186 Tydd street, was killed in action in Germany on March 16, according to word received here yesterday from the War Department. Tassara only recently was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s badge for proficiency in arms against the enemy. He was serving with Patton’s Third Army at the time of his death. He is survived, in addition to his parents, by his wife, the former Dorothea Larusen of Arcata, a four-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Barbara Ann, and a brother, Frank, student at the local high school. Tassara entered the Army in January, 1944, training at Little Rock, Ark., and at Fort Meade Md., before going overseas in November. He was home on a brief furlough during October. Born in Eureka, the soldier attended the local schools. He was a brother-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hess of Arcata. |
