Thursday, March 15, 1945 pg. 1 “Killed In Action: Philippine Islands” Pvt. Edwin Drew, 28, serving with the First Cavalry Division, was killed in action February 21 at Manila, Philippine Islands, according to word just received by his relatives. Pvt. Drew has been in the Army since February 1942, trained at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and Camp Hale, Colorado, before going overseas two years ago. He has served in New Guinea, the Admiralty Islands and Australia. Before entering the Army he was employed by the California Barrel company, Arcata. Surviving relatives are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Drew of 1726 Sunny avenue; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Rufus Willhoite and Lawrence Drew of Eureka, Mrs. Carl Eades of Rohnerville, Mrs. Charles Moore of Santa Cruz, Staff Sgt. Glenn Heavey, now in New Guinea. |
