Saturday, April 21, 1945 pg. 6 “Killed In Action” John Dayton Martin, gunners mate third class, was killed in action while serving with the Pacific Fleet according to word received by his parents. Mr. and Mrs. John Martin of Willow Creek. Martin, 22, graduated from Arcata High school and enlisted in 1942 in the Navy, training at Farragut, Idaho, and serving at Treasure Island before going to sea. He had been home on leave a year ago. Surviving are his parents, a brother, Lincoln B, Martin, AAM2c now in Oklahoma; sister, Doris Martin of San Francisco; grandmother, Mrs. Delphia Flower of Willow Creek; several aunts and uncles. |
