Thursday, May 17, 1945 pg. 1 “Dies Fighting Japs: On Okinawa” TRINIDAD, May 17- Pvt. Robert Welch has been killed in action on Okinawa, according to word received recently by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Welch of Trinidad. He had also participated in the Leyte campaign. Pvt. Welch entered the service in 1943 and was at Camp Swift, Texas, before going to Chicago for an engineering course and then overseas. He is an Arcata High school graduate. The soldier was a brother of Donald, Jerry and Nancy Welch of Trinidad. |
